Kyle A. Krasa, Attorney at Law

Kyle A. KrasaMy family has been a part of the Monterey Peninsula community for over 60 years. My grandfather, Karel A. Krasa, taught Czech at the Defense Language Institute while my grandmother, Zdena L. Krasa, worked in a cannery on Cannery Row. My mother, Joan Y. Krasa, taught at Bay View Elementary School in Monterey for nearly thirty years. My father, Peter G. Krasa, was an elementary school administrator and principal with the Monterey Peninsula Unified School District for nearly thirty years. My father continues to consult for the Education Department of California State University of the Monterey Bay and for the Monterey County Office of Education. I spent my entire childhood in the same house on the Monterey Peninsula. I attended Forest Grove Elementary School, Pacific Grove Middle School, and Robert Louis Stevenson High School.

After 18 years of living in this wonderful area, I decided that I wanted a change. Ever since I first visited New England with my parents in Middle School, the rolling green hills, covered bridges, and four seasons of Vermont had been tugging at my heart. When it became time for me to apply for college, I decided to attend a small liberal arts school, Saint Michael’s College, in beautiful Colchester, Vermont. I majored in English Literature, focusing on the British literature of William Wordsworth and Lord Byron and the American literature of Ralph Waldo Emerson and Henry David Thoreau.

It was at Saint Michael’s College where I met my wife, Amanda L. Krasa (then known as Amanda L. Baril). Amanda grew up in Lewiston, Maine and majored in Biology. Amanda earned a Bachelor’s of Science in Biology and I earned a Bachelor’s of Arts in English Literature. Three years after graduating from college, we were married in the chapel on our college campus.

After four years of Vermont winters, I decided to move back to California. I attended the University of California at Davis School of Law (King Hall) for law school. From the moment I started law school, I knew that I wanted to focus on Estate Planning, Elder Law / Medicaid Planning, Probate / Estate Administration, and Asset Protection, inspired by my family’s Estate Planning attorney. I graduated from U.C. Davis School of Law with a Juris Doctor degree.

I first practiced law in the Salinas Valley, working on Estate Plans for farmers and ranchers. I then spent several years as an associate attorney in Monterey before opening my own practice, KRASA LAW, in my “hometown” of Pacific Grove. I served as the President of the Rotary Club of Pacific Grove for the 2010-2011 year, I served as President of the Board of Directors for Meals on Wheels of the Monterey Peninsula from 2012 to 2014, and I am a member of, and an Ambassador for, the Pacific Grove Chamber of Commerce. My wife, Amanda, works as a Water Quality Specialist for the Monterey County Health Department in Salinas.

My wife and I have a young son, Jonah Bing Krasa, who is named after my late mother, Joan, and the famous crooner, Bing Crosby. We hope to raise him as well as our parents raised us.

When I am not working, I enjoy listening to music – especially Bing Crosby and Gwen Stefani / No Doubt – reading literature, playing ice hockey, rooting for the Green Bay Packers (I am a proud shareholder!), hiking, bicycling, swimming, golf, classic cars, and most of all, spending time with my family and friends.
